Our History
Several months ago we reached out in regards to sponsorship of a child in need, through a Facebook post by Ddumba Hakim. When I wanted more information, he directed me to Brian Lee McMahon, his contact in the U.S. As it turns out we are practically neighbors! Brian and I have met a few times now and speak on a regular basis. He lives in Madrid NM, and my family and I are in Rio Rancho, NM.
Brian started helping a village in Uganda a few years ago, and has been a mentor to our group on how to continue spreading the love. His group now has many successful IGA’s (income generating activities), 28 and counting sponsored children, an orphanage under construction, and clean water.
Our goal is to create a team to help sponsor a neighboring village, Bukomansimbi. 100% of all donations goes to wherever YOU direct it to! While we were trying to start a way to fund this (as a family we are creating an IGA of our own, to support this project, as well as local ministry) we have run into immediate needs of the village, as well as the outbreak of Covid19. At this time there is no clean water, less food than before, as well as price gauging due to this virus outbreak.
Please understand that it takes a village to support a village. Our worst day can be their best. My hope is that humanity will learn and grow from this virus, realizing that God is in control, and if we keep our eyes upon Him and do what is right, in or out of times of trial, we will have His peace.
There are close to 25,000 people daily who die from starvation and the CDC predicts another 130 Million will follow due to Covid-19. While some selfishly gather for ourselves, children are continuing to die from lack of food, water and our love. This is an opportunity to put your eyes on others needs before our own. The people of this region will surprise you, as it did me, they are hungry for opportunity and you can help them achieve it.
“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”- 1 John 3:16-18 NIV
